It is possible to use these symbols as an oracle in several different ways.
1. Sabian Oracle - Firstly centre yourself, then ask your question, and then call up the Sabian Oracle. This will pick one of the symbols at random.
2. Degree Oracles - These are based on the position of a planet or chart angle at the time the question is asked. Note, therefore that these symbols are not random, but are based on the cyclical motion of these astrological points through the degrees of the zodiac. The sun moves about 1 degree per day, so its symbol changes roughly once per day, whereas the moon moves about 13 degrees per day, so its symbol changes roughly once every two hours. The ascendant and midheaven pass through the entire zodiac each day, so their symbols change roughly once every 4 minutes. In order to decide which astrological point to use, take into account the symbolism of that point. For example, when asking questions about emotional issues you could choose the moon. When asking about career matters you could choose the midheaven, etc.

This Symbol speaks of talent and the ability to be able to use that talent and to bring it out into the open so that others may enjoy. The Prima Donna is number one at her art: she gets center stage and fills people with joy at the sound of her voice. You, too, may want to use your voice or your talents to sway your audience - those listening - although you could find that others may brand you as demanding attention. You could find that your talents will be tested to their extreme, but, if you can open your heart and let your inhibitions go, then you will please your audience and fulfill yourself. Where there's a lot of voices, yours probably will be the one most listened to.

This Symbol points to going by the book and taking things as rules to be lived or taking things literally. You may feel as though you either feel that you know all about life, or that you need to learn all about it. You could feel as though you have read the book on life. There are, however, finer details that you may have missed and you may need to look again. There is a clear indication that you need look for something outside of yourself for clues on how to live or how to be. However, be discriminating about what is really significant. Find the essential details of a situation and disregard the rest.
Looking for clues. Reading significant pieces of writing. Instruction manuals. Lawyers and the law. Oracles and synchronicities of reading passages that reflect life.
The Caution: Doing things because they need to be done. Going only by the rules of the book. Automated responses. Religious fundamentalism. Keeping tallies. Flaunting rules.

A NEW CONTINENT IS RISING OUT OF THE OCEAN
This Symbol shows the rising of a new place, a new place to be, a new country or somewhere to be or to live. It implies that you can find that extra spark to create a brand new, original opportunity. This pictures the beginning of something that holds an enormous amount of potential for the future. There is much work to be done developing this into something fertile and productive. A whole new field of activity is coming to light. What you have done in the past has led you to this, but these new beginnings need to be met with a fresh sense of purpose and possibility.

VENUS

This Symbol implies people and all living things living together in peace and harmony. They are playing and enjoying and living at the edge of the water on the beach, doing their own thing and getting on with their own lives. People with this Symbol often just want to get on with their own activities and enjoy life and nature. This is a lovely image of a live-and-let-live attitude. Try taking some time out by the water and interact with others there. With the coming and going of the tide, people do what comes most naturally to them. Just be careful that you don’t get out of your depth trying to be like others.

A GAME OF CRICKET
This Symbol shows the ability, or the necessity, of playing the game of life by the rules. Like the “Game of Cricket” there are rules and guidelines to go by that need to be respected and observed. It is not so much the game that is important, but how it is played. Cricket is very much a ‘gentleman’s game’ and it is usually played by people who come together from all around in order to side with those they choose to play the game with. You will find that integrity is vital and your honesty will give you rewards, even if there is some initial sacrifice. Careful team work is needed to stop things getting through the gaps; everyone must, to some extent, keep on their toes.
Playing by the rules. Stiff upper-lip responses. Seeing through the illusions of what constitutes ‘polite society’. Sportsmanship. Courtesy. Umpire’s decisions. Opposing teams.

FINELY LETTERED NAMES AND MYSTERIOUS LINES ARE SEEN; IT IS A FAMILY TREE
There is a need to call upon the deeper and inherent knowledge within. What's been learnt from past experience, possibly from one's ancestral roots, will help you find the greatest strength. This implies a strong family heritage, however it may come from having a deep connection with people or things that you are not actually related to, but are in your 'family' nonetheless.
Strength in tradition. The story of where one comes from and where one's going. Knowing where you fit in.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the desire, to have signs and predictions to give you insights into the future. By looking at past experience, you may find the signs, however, there’s a need to look closely at what’s happening as you could find yourself on a kind of merry-go-round; waking up each day to the same dilemma, question or problem. The solutions to your questions are often close by and easy to perceive and based in your normal life and relationships. Don't try to read too much into situations, but do take a good look at how you come across in relation to other people. Do you keep repeating the same mistakes? Perhaps you are someone who helps others get over their past, freeing them up for having a better, brighter future.

This Symbol shows issues of going to a great deal of effort to conceal from others things that are very important. This could be heavy responsibilities that have been placed on you. You may feel that you have succeeded in shouldering these burdens without others knowing, but in fact it may be apparent to others in the way the burden of your secret is affecting your behavior. It may be necessary to share the load. Are you truly participating in life? Do you always put on a happy face regardless of what’s going on?

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to pass the tests that life, other people, spirituality or karma throws at you. You are likely to find at times in your life that you are being judged by those above you. It is difficult to see what their qualifications to judge you are, but this is often the nature of progression through the ranks. People being critical of one another can lead to better behavior, better performances or the like, or it can lead to feeling judged, violated and intruded upon. It can seem as though our lives are like lessons; we are periodically “Examined” to see how we are doing on our course. Be careful not to shut yourself away to avoid being seen or having to endure criticism.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, for supervision, border protection and control. There can be a feeling of having to oversee a large ‘empire’ where reliability and leadership are vital. This can be a tiring responsibility, but there can be an awareness of the protection of 'all who went before'. However, political and social restraints from the past could be causing you to feel that you’ve somehow got to ‘wage war’. Issues to do with the government come up, whether you agree with what they do or not. At times in your life you’ll be confronted with having to make your presence felt and guard your territory. Effective supervision will help you to relax.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to see through those who hold important positions yet abuse trust or those who make great claims but don’t live up to them. At regular times in your life, you’re likely to find yourself leaving others behind, kicking them out, or experiencing falls from grace. Periodically, there is a need to examine moral and spiritual sincerity. It is easy to allow those who don't really belong to stay because of familiarity or habit. We can lose sight of the ideal through our rationalizing intellect, ego and emotive passion. There is a need to cleanse and purify your life, leading to better spiritual values. What side of the “Purging” are you on? Are you the one with the ‘right motives’? Who’s in charge?

You may find yourself in competition over emotional issues or working your way through shared emotions and hoping to win, or to come out on top. It is through training and practice and the controlled use of your emotions that success can be achieved. It is this experience that you must call on now. Work hard at achieving the win for rewards in the larger picture (club, school, country) or for winning the race leaving purely personal gains behind may be the answer.
Looking sideways to see how others are coping with the strain of competition. Competing with one's emotions. Wanting to be first at everything.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to learn from the past, or to see the beauty and meaning inherent in ancient civilizations, their monuments and cultures. Some things never fade; they stand as reminders of ancient eras, bringing messages to us from the past. Information and revelations may be found in these reminders (the “Remains”) about the stability and longevity of the foundation of your society, or possibly some other society, distant in time or space. This Symbol implies the ability, or the need, to see things reflected in the world around you. It can also show someone who loses the plot through not being able to differentiate reality from fiction, intuition from dreaming or what’s theirs from what’s someone else’s emotions, thoughts or reality. Certainly, this speaks of degrees of depth in intellect, intuition and emotions. Whether there are hidden depths of not, there may be a strong sense of things being ‘reflected’, as the “Moon” reflects on the “Lake” much like a mirror. What needs reflection? Or less projection? Are things evaluated on a merely superficial level? Are you able to see things how they really are? Look for signs of the things you need to observe, and watch how life can be reflected around you.
