It is possible to use these symbols as an oracle in several different ways.
1. Sabian Oracle - Firstly centre yourself, then ask your question, and then call up the Sabian Oracle. This will pick one of the symbols at random.
2. Degree Oracles - These are based on the position of a planet or chart angle at the time the question is asked. Note, therefore that these symbols are not random, but are based on the cyclical motion of these astrological points through the degrees of the zodiac. The sun moves about 1 degree per day, so its symbol changes roughly once per day, whereas the moon moves about 13 degrees per day, so its symbol changes roughly once every two hours. The ascendant and midheaven pass through the entire zodiac each day, so their symbols change roughly once every 4 minutes. In order to decide which astrological point to use, take into account the symbolism of that point. For example, when asking questions about emotional issues you could choose the moon. When asking about career matters you could choose the midheaven, etc.

This Symbol shows the need to be given respect and taken seriously. At times you’ll find that you can’t put up with the way you’re treated, the pressure builds up and suddenly, and probably from out of nowhere, a torrent of emotion comes out. If you're being spoken badly to or treated with little respect, make a stand - don't put up with it. It's tiring to be treated like a 'Slave' or dutiful underling. Everyone should have equal rights. Spread your wings of freedom and seek to improve things by being frank and honest. You may win, but you can never truly lose if you act with integrity and honesty.

This Symbol shows the rising of a new place, a new place to be, a new country or somewhere to be or to live. It implies that you can find that extra spark to create a brand new, original opportunity. This pictures the beginning of something that holds an enormous amount of potential for the future. There is much work to be done developing this into something fertile and productive. A whole new field of activity is coming to light. What you have done in the past has led you to this, but these new beginnings need to be met with a fresh sense of purpose and possibility.

This Symbol shows that there's a need to break away from old familiar ground and move out into unknown territory. Fear is the greatest barrier to moving forward, but the familiar must be left behind for new possibilities. Taking opportunities to move on to new realms of being can lead to a whole new experience or indeed a whole new life. You have to be prepared to leave the old behind and to step out into new experiences with an open heart and an open mind. You could be starting from scratch with little to support you, but you could find depths of experience you never thought possible.

This Symbol implies the need, or the ability, to be an advocate for the rights of others, particularly youngsters or children, and being prepared to argue with others in order to bring about a desired result. You may find yourself standing-up for those in your care, or for those who need your care, whether it is your children, your ideals or creative pursuits. Even if they sometimes deserve rejection, punishment or judgment, the solution will possibly be found not in being defensive as in simply asking for consideration, mercy and leniency. This degree can also show people who bring about a healing for others, whether it’s through their own actions or through finding the healers that are needed to affect a cure.

This degree shows the power and strength of history and grandeur, along with issues to do with spiritual mysteries and intellectual records and the building of grand monuments and empires. An interest in ancient civilizations often comes with this degree or there may be the desire, or need, to establish some type of monument, or perhaps work at it or worship it. You may be working at building an empire, yours or another's as this often implies pyramid selling and large economic structures. You may need a tour guide and a map and the determination to build things in exact measurements.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, for supervision, border protection and control. There can be a feeling of having to oversee a large ‘empire’ where reliability and leadership are vital. This can be a tiring responsibility, but there can be an awareness of the protection of 'all who went before'. However, political and social restraints from the past could be causing you to feel that you’ve somehow got to ‘wage war’. Issues to do with the government come up, whether you agree with what they do or not. At times in your life you’ll be confronted with having to make your presence felt and guard your territory. Effective supervision will help you to relax.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to see through those who hold important positions yet abuse trust or those who make great claims but don’t live up to them. At regular times in your life, you’re likely to find yourself leaving others behind, kicking them out, or experiencing falls from grace. Periodically, there is a need to examine moral and spiritual sincerity. It is easy to allow those who don't really belong to stay because of familiarity or habit. This Symbol shows the need to integrate people of different races, religions, economic status or places. During your life you may find people from different or seemingly disparate or separate areas come into your life, making it richer, more rewarding and interesting. Prejudice of any kind, whether religious or race based, economic or class systems, is an illusion based on social perception and excludes people that could add to our lives. Social perceptions can color how we see others and these need to be put aside. Rather, it's about embracing brotherhood and caring. The integration, acceptance and enjoyment of all people brings depth and meaning to life.

By sharing the task without ego or competition the outcome is not only better, but more harmonious and satisfying.
